4 Phases Of Blogging
Lesson 4 Module 1
Here are the 4 phases of blogging. The sooner you can exit one phase and enter the next, the closer you are to reaching success.
The lost phase
When most bloggers start, they usually start with no direction and waste a lot of time. Sure, they're doing a lot of work, but they're not advancing in their goal.
Often times this is because there is no clear goal or even a blueprint to follow. The end result is lots of work, but very little actual results.
Blogging blindly without a strategy is a surefire way to feel like there's "no money in blogging" and quit.
The awakening phase
The awakening phase happens when you make your first dollar online. Even if it literally is just one dollar, it's an amazing feeling when you create something (from nothing) that makes (real) money.
In business this is sometimes called the "proof of concept" stage. With blogging, it's that bit of motivation that lets you see the light at the end of the tunnel.
For me, it was earning $1 when someone clicked on one of my ads. But the real awakening happened when a company paid me $150 for me to mention them in my next blog post. The money practically fell right on my lap and it was then that I realized there was potential here.
The Growing phase
Now that you know there is money to be made, it's time to grind! In this phase, you are excited about making money with your blog and now know the possibilities.
In this phase, you are focused on the main task at hand: making money.
When I'm in the growing phase, get out of my way!
But there's something that always seems to happen in this phase - you hit a plateau.
When you've maxed out your time and efforts, your income growth will stall.
When this happens, it's time to make a change and enter the next phase.
The Scaling phase
The scaling phase happens when you have successfully created a website that earns a stable amount of money each month. This could be $200/mo or $2,000/mo.
At this stage, it's time to automate and outsource your daily "blogging" tasks as much as you can.
You can then use this free time to help you re-enter the growth phase again.
At this point you have two options:
1. Take your business to the next level, push through and reach a higher income level.
2. Start a new blog and do this all over again.
Personally, I prefer option #2. I found it was faster / easier to grow a new blog to the $2,000 per month range than to grow an existing one past $2,000 per month.
Either way, in this phase we're freeing up time to scale our business.
