Finding Your Passion Myth
Lesson 8 Module 2
Many people think you need to find your passion and blog your way to riches. Don't they say, do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life?
Except that it's really difficult to make money doing what you love, if what you love is hard to monetize.
I'm not against blogging about your passion. I'm just against it when it goes against the laws of supply and demand.
FOLLOW THE MONEY, NOT YOUR PASSION
Many gurus will tell you to find your passion. Maybe they even suggest going on a weekend retreat, meditating to find the right path.
What a waste of time.
Instead, let's keep the focus on the end goal, which is to make money of course.
After all, what is the purpose of starting a blog?
Yes it's to help people. Yes it's to share your insights and experiences. But the real reason is to make money. An absurd amount of money. No need to be ashamed about it.
Money comes from selling something that sells. It doesn't come from your passion.
THE PASSION PROBLEM
There's a good chance you hate your job. There's probably many reasons for that. But one of them is because you do it every single day.
It can get mentally exhausting to do the same thing, over and over again. If you blog about your passion, pretty soon that passion of yours becomes your daily grind.
What will ultimately happen is you will ruin your passion if you make it your day-job.
Your passion should be your escape from the day to day.
Let me put it this way. Make money first. Then, your new lifestyle will allow you the time + money to pursue your passions.
