I went from having $22,625.24 in credit card debt to becoming debt-free and a six-figure blogger in 3 short years.
Since starting my first blog in 2004, I’ve gone on to purchase our dream home, buy my dream car, and retire my RN wife!
I’m not a drive-by marketer who just showed up last week. I’ve been in the trenches blogging since 2004. Since then I’ve gone on to build over 100 profitable blogs on my way to a six-figure income as a full-time blogger.
From zero to six-figure blogger in 3 years
Let me give you a bit of background of how it all got started.
My first blog
When I started my first blog (in the personal finance niche), I was a stay-at-home dad (to my then 4-year old daughter) holding down the home-front while my wife was helping us stay afloat financially working 12-hour shifts as a registered nurse.
I was drowning in $22,625.24 of credit card debt that I was juggling between multiple balance transfer cards at the time. Knowing I had to do something big, I started a blog with a hope and a dream of a better life for me and my family.
The end-result? Crickets…
To say my first attempt at blogging was a failure is an understatement. I didn’t earn a penny my first year blogging.
Then one day I received an email from a company wanting to pay me $225 to write about their product, which they would also give me for free.
Needless to say, I was shocked! I was in so much disbelief I actually negotiated the price down to $175!
But making that first dollar from blogging was all I need to know there was something more to this blogging thing.
With the (financial and emotional) support of my wife, I went ALL-IN and decided to start blogging full-time – before I was ready.
I began treating my blog like a real business and within a few short months, I was making $4,500+ per month.
How I became a six-figure blogger
After having success with my first blog, I decided to start a second blog in an entirely different niche (keto diet).
I applied the lessons I learned from my first blog and within a few short months, it started working! Just six months after launching I was making an additional $3,000 per month.
By this point, I knew I was on to something.
Along the way, I discovered that my real passion wasn’t in personal finance or the keto diet, but rather in the process of building a successful brand.
This is precisely why I started my third blog, Do Six Figures, to teach others the exact steps and strategies I used to build multiple successful blogs – so you don’t make the same mistakes I did when I was new.
Since lauching my third blog I’m now making well over $10,000 per month!
Since becoming a six-figure blogger I’ve gone on to pay off all my debt, buy our dream home, get my dream car (Tesla Model 3), and retire my RN wife!
I seriously have to pinch myself sometimes.
Why you can do this too
There is nothing (and I mean nothing) stopping you from doing the same exact thing I’m doing.
Well, I lied, there is. You can stop yourself. See, many people just don’t believe they’re smart enough to do this. But, trust me, this whole blogging thing doesn’t require much intelligence.
You can start a blog with very little investment and zero technical know-how. You can write blog posts without being a really good writer. And you can get traffic and monetize your blog without being some internet prodigy.
It all boils down to knowing what to do, and then putting in the work to make it happen.
If you’re willing to put in the work, you will get results.

Mistakes I’ve made along the way
I’m not perfect. Far from it! I can guarantee you I’ve failed more than you have. But with every failure is an opportunity to learn why and change course.
Here are some mistakes I’ve made in my blogging journey (that you might be making right now).
Mistake: I wrote A LOT of content
I read that to be successful blogging you need to publish 3 posts a week on a schedule. So I became a content writing machine. The problem was nobody was reading what I had to say.
Solution: “Only bangers” – Write epic content people are actually searching for
I changed my blogging schedule to one post per month. But this time, everything I wrote caught fire!
Mistake: I promoted my blog posts on every social media channel
I read that social media was a great source of traffic. So I posted links to my blog posts all over Facebook and Twitter, over and over again. The results? What results? That “strategy” went nowhere quick.
Solution: I focused all of my energy and time on Pinterest instead
I laser focused on Pinterest. You know, that site that’s designed to send bloggers boatloads of traffic?
Mistake: I put ads all over my website
Build a blog, splash big ads everywhere and… become a millionaire overnight right? Nope, I was trying to make a “cold sale” with banner ads which is pretty much impossible.
Solution: I removed all ads and focused on building an audience first
I stopped trying to make a quick buck and instead started to build a tribe of loyal followers. This would be the key to my success.
Thanks for reading til the end!
Until next time,
